Can The Cedarville Academy courses satisfy high school graduation requirements?
In addition to earning college credit through The Cedarville Academy, you may be eligible to receive high school credit for these courses. You should contact your guidance counselors to discuss dual-credit options.
Is financial aid available to Academy students?
You are not eligible for state or federal financial aid while participating in the Academy. Cedarville University, through the reduced Academy tuition rate, provides a scholarship of nearly $1,500 per semester to all Academy students.
Does my performance in The Cedarville Academy affect my college GPA?
Yes. Grades from Academy courses become a part of your permanent academic transcript at Cedarville University.
What if I decide to drop a course?
You should consult with both the University and with their high school counselor and carefully consider the impact on both high school and college graduation requirements before dropping courses. Published refund policies apply to tuition and fees paid as part of The Cedarville Academy. Please refer to the "Academic Information" section of the online catalog for important deadlines and requirements related to dropping a course.
What if I want to take a semester off?
A modified re-application process (including a shortened application and other updated documents) will be required to be readmitted to The Cedarville Academy. However, if you have not been permitted to continue in the Academy due to academic performance, you must wait to reapply as degree-seeking freshman at Cedarville University.
How will I obtain textbooks?
Textbooks for all Academy courses are available through the University's bookstore and may be purchased online.
What are the technological requirements?
As long as you have a computer and a high-speed internet connection, you are ready for class.
Do online courses require labs and how are those handled?
For courses that have a lab component (e.g. Principles of Earth Science), you receive a lab kit or virtual lab package and individually perform the lab and then submit the results.
Does The Cedarville Academy include any on-campus course options for high school students?
The Cedarville Academy is an online program. Local high school students are eligible to enroll at Cedarville University as non-degree seeking students, and standard tuition arrangements apply. Contact admissions for additional information.
What if my high school break does not coincide with The Cedarville Academy's?
You are expected to actively participate in online courses following schedules required by your instructors. Since you are not a full-time, degree-seeking student, you do not qualify for programs and amenities provided to full-time University students.
Does being enrolled in The Cedarville Academy have any bearing on me as a freshman at Cedarville University?
If you who enroll at Cedarville University as freshmen and who have completed at least one course in The Academy may be eligible for a one-year "Academy Scholarship." Scholarships ranging from $1,000-$2,000 are based on academic performance in The Cedarville Academy. In addition to the "Academy Scholarship," Cedarville University offers a broad range of academic, leadership, church and ministry, minority, athletic, and need-based scholarships that recognize and reward you for achieving outstanding success during high school.
What do I need to do after The Cedarville Academy classes if I wish to attend Cedarville University?
If you wish to attend Cedarville University after high school, you must complete the abbreviated Undergraduate Application: Change to Degree Seeking. Additional or updated application materials may also be required for degree-seeking admission.
Will The Academy courses satisfy my high school requirements as well?
Depending on a local school's regulations regarding dual enrollment, The Cedarville Academy courses may count for both high school and college credit giving you a head start on college while fulfilling requirements for high school graduation.
